How to figure out its time to change engine oil ?

Hi i have a VW 1969 Bug, I using Castrol GTX 20W-50. The engine oil seems to be black now. After running for 5-10 min for 60-70 kph, on sudden accelerations i hear a noise from the engine which is like %26quot;shaking some iron balls in Coke Can%26quot;. I heard that this sounds comes due to engine is not getting cold properly. So is this some thing to do with the Engine OIL ? cause i guess VW engines use air and oil to cool it self. How to figure out its time to change engine oil ?For old Air Cooled engines the answer is easy.

If you have driven the car, change the oil each month.

The premise for this is that Oil is actually the heart and soul of an air cooled engine. It not only contains the lubricant but it also cleans the system and removes the fine metal debris that any engine creates.

Since it (the engine) is small and it runs at a high level of heat and speed, this little stuff can quickly age your engine so, the extra $40 a year in the additional oil change is VERY cheap insurance (especially since there is no real oil filter on a stock VW.

So.. that's MY take on oil changes.

Your noise may not be oil.. it sounds more like engine knock. Check your timing or your distributor advance.

.How to figure out its time to change engine oil ?Well there will be a dip stick(check around the engine or refer an online manual for that) and follow these steps

#1 turn of your engine, wait for 1 minute

#2 pull the dip stick and wipe it clean with a clean cloth

#3 now insert the dip stick again, and pull it out

#4 identity till where the oil is present on the stick

#5 if you observe that dip stick, you will find 2 holes on it(the hole nearer to your hand in which you are holding the stick) is the OK limit of your oil. the other hole(farther from your hand) is the minimum limit, if oil level is below this you need to refill your oil immediately to avoid any engine damage

and regarding your problem at high speeds, may be the piston head is hitting the values which gives that sound or it can be the rumbling sound due to lack of oil, check you oil level and if it is OK and still the sounds persist then you need to tune your engine.

If your are lucky enough it can be solved by changing the oil.How to figure out its time to change engine oil ?How many miles since the last oil change? Thank goodness 69 Bugs are easy to repair.

  • How frequently required to change engine oil?

    HI,

I got one second Bajaj Boxer, and millage was good. Last time when i done servicing to bike. just 2 weeks back one mechanic said that the engine bore have to be done ???? i dont know what deos it mean.. but i felt may be my engine bore need to be replaced or! just need to service. And also your engine oil have to refilled frequently.

Ya i think.. after servicing my bike i just traveled 1000 Kms, i m not able to see engine oil in level? so what shall i do is it required to have engine oil filled in my self? or do i need to take it to any mechanic again?

And how frequently is it required for having service??

And more over my bike gives millage of 70 in city. but a very little bit of white smoke comes out.

and please suggest me.. ThanksHow frequently required to change engine oil?Your mechanic is suggesting you bore the cylinder, because you're puffing smoke out the exhaust. Your piston rings are bad, and causing it to burn oil, and smoke.

He's correct. You need a top end rebuild, new piston, rings, and to have the cylinder honed out, or bored if you go to a bigger piston. If you are burning that much oil, 621 miles (1000kms) thats a LOT of oil, and you should probably not ride it anymore, because the engine will be lacking lubrication, and eventually seize. Take it in to have the top end done before you damage the bike beyond repair.

You should be able to ride that bike for THOUSANDS of miles on one oil change, not 621 miles, and your oil should be changed about every 5000kms, or 3000 miles. How frequently required to change engine oil?check the clutch whether it slicks

    check breaks if worn out.

    if none

an oil top up will be fine for the next 1000 km.

usually a bike needs to serviced after 2000-2500km runHow frequently required to change engine oil?I am automobile engineer.

Dude u have mentioned very good information abut white smoke....

There is no oil in engine is bcoz the oil is burning with petrol and causing white smoke...

Have u changed piston? or replaced piston rings? after cylinder re-boring? ask mechanic......

It happens because of gap between cylinder wall and piston ring either u hav to replace piston or change piston rings i cant tell u exactly from here u hav to see a mechanic. How frequently required to change engine oil?Sorry i cant answer your question in kms, but you should change your oil every 2000 miles and change you oil filter every other oil change. And for the white smoke you might have water in your gas. This happens mostly from condensation in your gas tank (and could be bad gas). Use HEET to get rid it.

    How to change engine headers?

.It's really easy to do. Only there are some clearance issues with different vehicles. It's a good idea to use dead soft aluminum gaskets as they are reusable and hold up much better. I have a 07 trail blazer and im going to change my oil how do i reset the change engine light?

You have to check your owners manual if you have one. If not, call the dealer service department and they may help you. It is a series of turning the key on and off and pumping the gas pedal in a specific sequence. If I remember right, it's as follows: Turn the key on, off, on, off, on, off, on, off, on, off, on, pump gas pedal all the way down and release 3 times and your light should reset. If this doesn't work, then I'm sorry I might be off by a key turn or so. Not trying to be funny. you could really screw up the motor is yo get it wrongHow to change engine oil on 2004 harley dyna super glide?that is a pretty broad question so i assume you are new to this.

there are three places to change oil on a superglide-engine oil, transmission oil and chaincase.

find a mechanic, dealership or buy the manual (if you are so inclined) and learn for yourself. How to change engine oil on 2004 harley dyna super glide? The first thing you do is to go get a factory service manual(about 60-75 bucks, but worth every cent) for your bike. While your at the dealer getting the manual buy an oil filter. If they sell Aimsoil,Lucas or Mobil 1 V Twin oil get 5 quarts of that too.You don't need 5 but it's good to have some extra on hand. Then go start reading that manual. It will save you a ton of money over time by teaching you how to do simple maintenance on your bike instead of paying a shop for labor.

  • Change Engine Oil Question?

How long can i go without an engine oil change when it says to get an oil change and where can i go to get one?Change Engine Oil Question?this other guy Brandon is wrong the 3,000 miles oil change is a scam/myth today its recommended that you change your oil every 5,000 to 7,500 miles and do not get your oil changed at jiffy lube they'll scam you too like me and Luke we both have the right answersChange Engine Oil Question? The life of oil depends a lot on the driving conditions. city driving, winter driving, towing and racing all shorten the effective life of the oil.

The light on most cars that tells you to change your oil just counts how many miles you have driven since you last changed your oil, it doesn't really tell you the condition of the oil. Some newer cars actually do monitor the condition of the oil.

What I would recommend doing is to have the oil changed, then have the shop write the mileage at which you need to change again somewhere where you will actually see it. Or you can actually use the light and just change whenever it comes back on.

Wal-mart and Sears both do oil changes. There are also chains that specialize in oil changes and most local mechanics also do oil changes.Change Engine Oil Question?3000 or every 6 months is now a myth. It used to be true but now we have more advanced oils that can last much longer that the oils back in the day when the 3000 mile was established. Depending on the brand you buy you can go all the way to 10,000 miles on one oil change. I personally would not recommend this i wouldn't go much more than 5,000 miles on a change.Change Engine Oil Question?well, it depends on what ur talking about, if its a car/truck then you should change the oil eve 3000 miles but if ur overdue then you should get it changed you don't have to be in a hurry but u should get it changed before another 100 milesChange Engine Oil Question? You can go at least until you run out of gas.

How does the one engine rule apply for speedweeks?

since NASCAR has the one-engine rule and common sence is telling me that they dont practice, qualify, practice, do the 150's and all the practice with the same engine. or do they?

when do they change engines and what engine do they have to start the race with?

do they change the engines after every event? How does the one engine rule apply for speedweeks? The one engine rule does not apply to Speedweeks. They use two engines. This first engine must be used from the first practice until after the 150's. Then a second engine must be put before final practice on Saturday and used for the 500 on Sunday. They have to install it before final practice on Saturday to make sure that there are no leaks or problems. Nascar doesn't want a untested fresh engine to have a leak or blow up and cause the big one on lap 2.How does the one engine rule apply for speedweeks?that's a good question, i've always wondered about that myself. yeah, with practice and qualifying last weekend, then practice today, a 150 mile race tommorrow, and practice friday and saturday, that would be way too many miles on the engine before race day. so they must do something different for this race than they do for the rest of the season. How does the one engine rule apply for speedweeks?I think some of them will blow their motors up on purpose and get a new motor and just start in the back

How to change engine oil of toyota camry 1989?

Remove the drainplug from the oil pan located center of engine underneath the vehicle.(Make sure you have a pan underneath it) That will drain the oil. Now you have a filter its on the backside of the motor closest to the wall under the windshield. The filter is similiar in shape %26amp; size to a Can of vegetables with a round bottom. You will need a filter wrench to remove the filter.(A filter wrench is a round band with a handle that fits around the filter which enables you to loosen it for removal.) When installing the new filter... dampen the rubber seal on the new filter with clean oilHow to change engine oil of toyota camry 1989?JSame as all the cars, read upHow to change engine oil of toyota camry 1989?Make sure you have a correct replacement oil filter. Gather the correct tools ( basically, a good socket set and some sort of oil filter wrench of the appropriate size. ) and some sort of pan to collect the oil in, and a container to store it in until you can dispose of it at a proper recycling center. Loosen the filler cap on top of the engine. If necessary, jack up the car slightly and support on jack stands. Crawl under the front of the car and find the drain bolt on the bottom of the oil pan. Place your catch pan below this, and using the correct size socket and ratchet wrench, remove the drain bolt. ( It is usually best to do the final bit of loosening by hand, to avoid dropping the drain plug in your oil catch pan.) Once the oil has drained out, remove the filter and catch the oil that drips from that as well. After applying a small amount of oil to the seal of the new filter, install the new filter on the engine. Reinstall the drain bolt. If you have a torque wrench, you can look up the correct spec, but I generally just make the bolt snug, but not TOO tight. Place the collected oil in a container for transport. Now replace the oil in the engine with an appropriate amount of new oil. This should be in your owners manual, but is generally about four US quarts. Replace your filler cap, and you're ready to go.

How to change engine oil in a 60 hp mercury 4 stroke outboard?

Pretty straight forward - the manual is quite helpful too - Warm the engine to normal operating temperature. Switch the engine off. Remove the cover and loosen or remove the fill cap. You will find the drain plug about halfway down the upper leg - the engine can be turned and tilted a little up so yo have best access, set a container underneath and unto the drain plug. Allow the oil to drain into the container, while this is happening undo the oil filter - it is a small spin on job similar to a cars - there is a large box type socket for these, but I found mine was a waste of metal as the sort of vague nut shape of the filter just rounded off, so I just use a regular small filter wrench. Drop that in your container for re-cycling with the oil and get your new filter out, make sure the old filter's neoprene gasket came off with the filter by wiping the seating surface with a clean rag, smear a bit of clean engine oil on the new gasket face on the new filter, and spin it on until it contacts the sealing face, tighten another 2/3rds of a turn. By now the oil should have drained fully enough for you to replace the drain plug - remove the old sealing washer and fit a new one, tighten firmly but don't be silly - you don't need to jump on the socket wrench. Re-fill the engine with the correct volume of specified lubricant - from memory 10W30. Re-fit the fill cap and start the engine, run just for a minute. Checking that the engine is vertical, not tilted or leaning any, check the oil level - when changing the filter it is normal for the level to be a little down, top up to the upper mark, but no higher. Make sure there is no leaks from the oil filter seal, wipe any oil residue up with rags and re-cycle the oil. Job done for 100 hours or 12 months, whichever comes first.

While you are there check the gearbox oil level and condition - replace oil and/or seals if needed, always replace drain plug sealing washers - they are very cheap, buy a dozen. Good time to swap out spark plugs if eroded and check any fuel filters, fittings, electrical terminals etc. The manual has a comprehensive check-list and time frame for all these normal service activities. 100 hours is roughly the same as 10,000km in a family car, and like your car, if the engine is flogged it may need more frequent oil changes, on the other hand if you idle the engine 80% of the time it is possible to extend the interval - however that is not something to do within the warranty period and is irrelevant outside 12 months since the last service. As a commercial operator I would do 10 to 15 oil changes a year, half a dozen or so with my diesels - but that is the sort of hours you do professionally. Knowing exactly how my engines were being used allowed me some flexibility on oil change intervals, and my older engines run like a swiss watch, use negligible oil between services and go just fine 100% of the time with 4000 plus hours on them. I would expect at least 5000 hours out of a modern four stroke in commercial use, but for recreational use it will always be rot and corrosion that kills them, not the hours. I only ever had trouble with engines that got parked for whatever reason - ever.

    Good luck.

UK 2.8 engine Detailed pleaseHow to change engine Oil on Cadillac cts 2005?Changing the oil on just about any car is the same. Securely get the car high enough to slide under. Use jack stands or ramps, NOT just a jack. Turn the car on, and let it warm up for a little while(10 minutes or so). Turn the car off. Take the oil fill cap off the top of the engine. Slide your drain pan, or bucket, whatever you have, under the car. On the bottom of the engine you'll find a drain plug. It's normally about 3/4%26quot;. Either on the bottom or the side of the engine. It will be the lowest plug you see. Remove this plug and drain the oil. While it's draining, find the oil filter. You'll need a filter wrench. Remove the oil filter. If you don't have an oil filter wrench and don't want to buy one, you can stab the side of the oil filter with a screw driver and turn it. One that is removed, drain it too and dispose of it. Once the oil is finished draining out the bottom of the engine, reinstall the plug firmly. There is often a gasket that slides over the plug, make sure that is still there. Once you reinstall the plug, get your new oil filter. Fill the new oil filter partially with new oil. Smear a little oil around the rubber seal. Spin the new oil filter onto the engine. Get it hand tight, firmly. DO NOT use a wrench or otherwise to tighten it; just hand tight. Once that is done, fill the engine with oil. Normally around 5 quarts, check the owners manual. Check the dipstick to ensure the level is correct. Reinstall the oil fill cap on top. Turn the car on. Check for no leaks. Lower the car. You're done.

How hard is it to change engine's in a 1981 chevy c10? and what engine would fit best?

have a striaght 6How hard is it to change engine's in a 1981 chevy c10? and what engine would fit best?Wow, come on people this aint a custom engine swap. Aint like shoe horning a 454 bbc into a toyota supra.

The 1981 c/10 came with a straight 6, small block v8 and a big block v8 all from the factory..

The truck has mounting holes drilled for engine of those mounts..

All parts for swap are common part store replacements (just tell them 1981 c/10 with a 350) to get the parts you need.

It's been awhile since I messed with a car/truck with a straight 6 so forgive me if I don't have all the info.

If the rad hoses is in diff places (V8 is water pump, lower hose to pass side bottom, intake, upper hose to rad driver side top) then you will need to swap the rad to a v8 one.

Change the frame engine mounts to v8 mounts ($20 at parts store)

You will probbly need a v8 fan, fan clutch, and rad fan shroud..

Next is the transmission.. IIRC the straight 6 and v8 shares the same bolt pattern so trans will bolt up, but 6cyl trans used less frictions inside it so it is weaker and you may kill it with a v8... You may want to look for a v8 th-350 long shaft or newer 700R4 overdrive trans from a v8 to swap in.

The wiring on 6cyl and v8 is pretty much the same..

The exhaust will need changing, but thats not too bad, you can pull a v8 exhaust system from a 1973 up c/10 and use it on yours with V8

Or have exhaust shop to fix you one, or install long tube headers and pretty much fab up your own system.. Thats one great thing about the chevy trucks.. Lots of room under them.. Two straight pipes, hooked to headers, then back towards the bed 2 mufflers, and 2 straight tail pipes out the back and you have an exhaust system made up

This is almost a remove and replace swap.

    As far as engines.. Any of the v8's 262, 265, 267, 283, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350, 400 would fit easy in your truck..

Also the big block 396, 402, 427, 454, 502 would also fit pretty much like the small block doesHow hard is it to change engine's in a 1981 chevy c10? and what engine would fit best? The best engine to put back is the same type enging. Otherwise, you will hap to change a lot of things. Which in cludes welling. If you got the money and time you can put a V6 engine. In the shop it would take a day in and out. And aonther day to get all ajustment maded. I would keep it the same. There to much to change over and adapt to make it work. It could take a week of longer in a shop equiped to do this. How hard is it to change engine's in a 1981 chevy c10? and what engine would fit best?straight six would be easiest, but they had smallblock v8 and bigblock v8 in those trucks.

If you've not changed an engine in one of these, you'll find the six isn't all that bad.How hard is it to change engine's in a 1981 chevy c10? and what engine would fit best?very hard and very costly, and no offense you probably will fail miserably before you even get the intake manifold off

ThanksHow to change engine coolant in 2004 chevy silverado 3500 (6.6L turbocharged duramax diesel)? The system is filled via the reservoir. There is a small 12mm bleed bolt in the top of the thermostat housing (which is right behind the oil fill tube) that must be removed before you start filling the reservoir. Once your coolant starts coming out of this hole, reinstall the bolt. Then continue filling the reservoir to the full mark. Leave the cap off, start the engine, and fill back up to mark. Can we change engine for Tata Sierra?

I heard that maintaining sierra is difficult,,so can we change the eny good engine to it,how about the suspension and power steering maintainance...can we fit isuzu engine to sierra. Can we change engine for Tata Sierra?I dont think soCan we change engine for Tata Sierra?Hi there.

The engine is not the only thing that requires maintenance in a vehcile; and engines are one of the components which require least maintenance; at all times, maintenance to the engine is almost always predictable.

The short answer to the question is %26quot;yes%26quot;; but it really does not leave you any wiser, does it?? So here we go.

You will need to change all parts which connect to the engine - the gear box, the transmission, the speedometer, the Tacho/RPM meter, the flywheel assembly, the alternators, and if the new engine is more noisy, you will need to insulate the engine bay also. Heavier engines of course, will require stiffer suspension also.

In short, you will end up paying more that what you will be paying for maintenance.

In case you have too much problems with this vehicle, you may be better off getting a new safari / tatamobile / sumo. Can we change engine for Tata Sierra? Is there a Lada sight on yahoo answers????Can we change engine for Tata Sierra?i would put a 350 Chevy in itCan we change engine for Tata Sierra?According my personal experience, the tata sierra was (or is) a very good vehicle. I don't think there is any difficulty to maintain this vehicle, but now, the availability of the spare parts may be difficult. I dont think there is any problem with the engine, because the same engine still continues in sumo. Then why do you want to change the engine?.

How can i change the engine on my subaru to an sti without the insurance finding out ?

i will not get insured on an sti impreza so i intend to buy a 1.6 and get that insured and at some stage when i can afford it change it to an sti turbo engine. how would i go about doing this without getting done e.g. change engine numbers ? or is there any waysHow can i change the engine on my subaru to an sti without the insurance finding out ?I agree with above answer. Same thing applies to any performance enhancing mod. If you read your insurance policy, the company will not cover any performance equipment. Your policy is basically voided by performance enhancing equipment. Insurance companies aren't stupid, they are in business to make money. Before anyone thumbs me down, READ your policy's fine print.

Obviously, JDMREX hasn't read his policy. Quoting from my policy from Allstate: %26quot;Exclusions - What is not covered 15. loss to any custom parts or equipment designed for racing which is installed in or upon your insured auto. This includes, but is not limited to, nitrous oxide systems, roll cages, and air intake systems.%26quot; So, you put an STI engine in your car. It is stolen or wrecked. It is not covered unless you get a special policy for more money. A company like Hagerty that insures classic muscle cars will write up a special policy. Want to fight an insurance company? They have more and better lawyers than you can afford. Good luck with that...

For more info, post in the insurance section. I am sure an agent will give you the same answer. How can i change the engine on my subaru to an sti without the insurance finding out ?You just change it... insurance wont care. If you get into an accident though thats another story. If you damage the engine they might not replace it.How can i change the engine on my subaru to an sti without the insurance finding out ?Wrong and wrong...I've got buddies with modifications to their cars and the insurance company covers that too. Mind you it's not something as big as a transmission or engine swap, but its still worth mentioning.

If you're looking to swap an STI engine into a lower end Impreza then you can do this yourself or have a shop do it. Why would you want to change the vin on the engine? I believe the rule is, as long as you are upgrading to a newer/ more efficient engine then it will be okay. This is assuming your vehicle still meets your state's, county's, etc's emission standards. How can i change the engine on my subaru to an sti without the insurance finding out ?Cannot as vin is there and if you get stopped you will go to jail for theft until straigtened out and then get tickets for no registration or insurance that is legal. You must put salvage on title. How can i change the engine on my subaru to an sti without the insurance finding out ?I'm going to have to say Pauly has the correct answer. As far as getting it insured, herein the US I have never had an insurance company ask for anything more than a VIN# let alone look under the hood so it's just a matter of getting covered for a base Impreza and enjoy. But he is correct that any enhancements will have to be disclosed if you want them covered. If you want to be safe and have some coverage for your investment, I would tell them vaguely that you plan on doing some mods and want to be covered for another $5000 or even $10,000. It really shouldn't cost a whole lot extra. For those who disagree, try installing a couple grand worth of stereo equipment and telling them it was stolen. You will be greatly disappointed in the result. How can i change the engine on my subaru to an sti without the insurance finding out ?Well I guess it depends on where you live but its really simple in most areas, just dont tell them. Yes your engine code will be different but who looks under your hood. When you get insurance on your car they go by your VIN number and that also tells them what engine is in it, just dont tell them that its been changed and your good to go. And about the going to jail for being stolen comment that someone made, wrong, if the code number on the engine doesnt come back to be stolen why would you get in trouble.

Most places will charge $40 for an oil change and new filter. Also check your air fliter... It really causes sluggishness in the intake and will improve performance. Air fliters should be changed every 5000kms I think it is. Also check all your fluids to keep them on the same time as your oil changes... it makes maintence a lot simpler. How much does it cost to change engine oil and what other filters do i need to change? of coz how much?About $20 -30 for changing engine oil and filter.

Change engine air filter every 15, 000 miles, and this is usually done at 15k service. The price depnds on what package you choose, like minimum factory required or dealer recommended.

I took my car in to my dealer for an oil change, engine check with 26 pts inspection. Now, whats wrong?

After driving it 5 or 10 miles and turning off the engine, I now hear a ticking or clicking sound coming from towards the back on the passenger side. The car never did this before. Is this the beginning of my problems with my car and this dealership? I have 5420 miles on the odometer. Its a Chevy Aveo LT 2005.

What is this ticking sound I hear, and how can it be remedied? Is it ok for it to do this? Guess I should have followed my instincts.I took my car in to my dealer for an oil change, engine check with 26 pts inspection. Now, whats wrong?Sounds like an electric fuel pump.

Take it back and have them test drive it. You are still under warranty; make it their problem, not yours.I took my car in to my dealer for an oil change, engine check with 26 pts inspection. how about this answer....

before jumping to conclusions, drive back up there, have the service manager or a tech ride WITH you, and see what they think it may be. if the car is still under warranty make an appt or have them check it then.

and as for your instincts....jiffy lube is a far more crooked place than a dealership, plus i would rather have a factory tech working on my car rather than a $7/hr guy that they hire a new one every 6 months...I took my car in to my dealer for an oil change, engine check with 26 pts inspection. Now, whats wrong? If you hear this %26quot;ticking%26quot; while you are driving, see if you picked up a stone or other item in right rear tire. Hope it's only a stone.I took my car in to my dealer for an oil change, engine check with 26 pts inspection. Now, whats wrong?Yes just sounds like a rock in the tread of the tire.

How to change engine. What is cold air intake?

If I wanted to change my car from a 4-cylinder to a V6 how much would that cost? Is it even possible?

Also how much does it cost to get cold air intake and where can I get this done? What exactly does cold air do to your car positevly? How to change engine. What is cold air intake?Engine swaps are usually expensive, but it depends on the car. It would probably be cheaper to buy a V6 car.

Cold air intakes usually cost between $200 and $300 and they are easy to install yourself. From the factory, cars have an air box that allows air into the engine. They are usually good but somewhat restrictive. Installing a cold air intake means taking out the factory air box and replacing it with a metal tube that has a cone filter at the end. This system is less restrictive than the air box and gains about 8-10hp on the average car. It's probably the most common performance upgrade. How to change engine. What is cold air intake?Anything is possible with enough money and work and talent, but it's not always practical. A cold air intake, physically, places the filter (the inlet for air to the engine) outside of the engine bay, where it can bring in colder air, which is more dense, hence the name. Dense air makes more power. How much power, depends on the engine, but most will only see maybe 2-3hp difference, after all, it's just a filter and a plastic or aluminum tube.

  • My car a corolla 2009, used about 2000 miles a year? How often should I change engine oil?

If I change every 6000 miles , then I would have to wait 3 years. If I change every 6 months, then the mileage is only 1,000 miles. It looks like wasting oil and wasting money, doesn't it? What is the compromised solution? ThanksMy car a corolla 2009, used about 2000 miles a year? How often should I change engine oil?An 09 most likely still has warranty so I would recommend following the manufacturers info. as not to void this warranty. My car a corolla 2009, used about 2000 miles a year? How often should I change engine oil?6000 miles is ok for the first one always change it every 3000 miles, if you dont drive that much as you mentioned change the oil every 3 months as oil can pick up sediments after settling at the bottom of a pan to longMy car a corolla 2009, used about 2000 miles a year? How often should I change engine oil?Change it twice annually - my biggest concern would be moisture and condensation in the crank case.My car a corolla 2009, used about 2000 miles a year? How often should I change engine oil? That oil is almost like it is sitting in the bottle. Heat and condensation break oil down, plus carbon may collect. It takes a bit of use to create need to change the oil. If I used a car that seldom, I'd change the oil each 3 years. I'd run the engine weekly for a few miles to burn off condensation and stop sludge from forming. What a waste. The tires will dry rot with plenty of tread on them.My car a corolla 2009, used about 2000 miles a year? How often should I change engine oil?I would have it changed once a year. Save your time %26amp; money. 3000 miles is for under extreme conditions as the manual says, and 6000 miles for normal condition.

Oil does not go bad in time (like food spoiling) it goes bad when being used. For an 09 model, I dont think sediments will be an issue, thats why its equiped with an oil filter.

How much will it cost to change engine bearings in a 1997 nissan altima?

My mechanic says that my engine's car bearings are worn out, and he would need to replace them. can he really replace the bearings by themselves? how much would something like that cost? How much will it cost to change engine bearings in a 1997 nissan altima? What is the car doing?

Is it knocking...not ticking (all altimas have noisy timing chains, they sound like a light metallic slap or tick every few seconds) but a constant loud %26quot;knock, knock, knock%26quot; that increases with rpm?

Does it smoke bad out the tailpipe?

If not there is no reason for a rebuild.

If he is pulling the engine it would be silly not to get the entire engine rebuilt. If the bearing are worn out then it is advisable to also resurface the crankshaft. This is what the bearings sit against To do this the entire engine has to be taken apart.

If you do need one it will be cheaper to get a used engine from a junk yard. Most yards give warrantys. Get at least a 6 month warranty. You can pick up a nice used, lower mileage then you have now, for under $400 if you shop around. You can have it installed for $800 at most.

Rebuilding your engine will cost about $1500 plus the cost of install, about $800. Save yourself more then $1000 and find an used engine.

or...if the car is running ok and it is still passing whatever local emissions laws you have...just keep driving it!

Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles?

some engeneers claimed that no need to change engine car oil and it is optional .Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles?Yes you should change your cars engine oil. Not more than 10000klm or 6000miles or 6mth between oil and filter changes while its having its oil changed you should check the transmission and other drive train components along wit suspension tyres and brakes. Not only will your car run a lot better not brake down it will stop it from becoming a lethal weapon unless you are stupid enough to drive that way.Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles?Do this and your car won't live to see 100,000 miles. Change your oil every 3,000 miles. I change mine every 2,000Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles?that engineer who gives you advice must be residing in jupiter

and he must driving a camel not cars you need regular maintenance and oil comes in a package check your miles so they can do the proper maintenance of your car because there is minor and major maintenance and there are conditions that have a great affect on your car like dusty conditions the way you drive or using too much loadIs there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles?engine oils viscosity breaks down over time from the heat of the engine, making it less effective. Unless you want a blown head Gasket or a seized engine, I would change it every 3000 miles, as recommendedIs there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles?Yes, you should. It keeps the engine clean, lets the pistons slide without damage, and extends the life of the car. Most manufacturers recommend every 3000 miles but I usually do it about every 4-5000 miles for my diesel truck. I do mine at Wal-Mart because they open early and are VERY reasonably priced. However, you should check your new oil filter and make sure it is screwed on tight. They tend to have a problem with that at the one I go to. Hope this helps!!Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles?some self proclaimed engineers are retards. You should change your oil every 3000 miles or 3 months whichever comes first.

The oil breaks down due tho the heat of the engine. Making it non effective.

    It's one of those things of %26quot;Pay me now, or pay me later%26quot;

An oil change at a lube place is about $30.

An oil change in your driveway (do it yourself) is about half that.

A new engine is about $2500 (depending on the type of car %26amp; engine)Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles? That engineer must be in engine overhaul business are selling cars. so you will be in to give him more$$$ I recomend chaging every 2,500 - 3,000 miles Some car manufacturers say every 5,000 miles in the manual which is probably safe but this also depemds on the abuse your engine gets , rather its all highway miles, no dirt roads, no dusty areas, etc.. then 5,000 may be ok. I personally never try to go over 3,000 i have at times but its not good habbit, I have rebuilt and built several engines and trust me clean oil and filters . is a cheap unexpensive way to maintain your car engine for a long time ahead, its nothing noiw days on some engines to run them over 200,000 miles but you must do the shceduled mainatnce checks etc.. follow your cars owners manual , they give you a warranty of so mnay miles well try going to dealership saying sir my engine is shot and by the way i never changed my oil see if your warranty is any good anymore . just spend the 20 bucks or even less change your oil and filter every 3,000 at least clean your airfilter every 3,000 change it or at least clean /inspoect every 6-10,000 miles. all this little stuff keeps your engine clean and happy, this not only prolongs your engines life but it keeps gas mileage up and that along in my household is enuff. Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles? You should do what the manufacturer of the make and model suggests, some auto's use standard oils, some use synthetic blends, some use full synthetic from the factory. Some vehicles, such as Ferrari use full synthetic oils and more than one filter, usually 3 filters, and they recommend 100,000 before an oil change is needed. So look it up for your car, you can even buy the service manuals at the dealership if you don't own one.Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles?Every 3K in addition think about adding an additive at 1.5K between changes. Worth the cost because it stays cleaner longer, doesn't get crap in your engine, doesn't break down viscally (not nearly as much as regular oil) therefore doesn't need to be changed quite as often, endures higher temps and varied engine conditions. Lessens the need to rape the earth of it's crude. All around good stuff. Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles? My husband is a class A mechanic and I asked him to come in and help me

answer this question. He said, %26quot; it should be changed approximately every

6000 km.%26quot; {we're Canadian so don't know the miles.} The engineers are wrong.

My husband was a class A mechanic for over 46 years and retired 11 years ago.

Changing the oil regularly has not changed. It must be done. Hope this helps.

The oil gets dirty and contaminated so that is the reason for having it changed. Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles?its your engines life blood.every 3,000 miles if you do lots of stop and starting. 5,000 for normal driving is best. or you can get an enineer to replace your engine when it blows from running oil with no viscocity. Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles? No its not optional if you run with the same oil too long it will mess with the pistons and other various parts do to friction due to lack of lubrication. i would say around 5000 miles is a safe range for a oil change. Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles? One major reason to change besides the dirt and carbon that is sponged in by the oil and wicked by the filter is to remove the amassing buildup of this stuff like so much removing a vacuum bag fm the cleaner.

Another reason most overlooked is that with each intake, moisture and humidity is taken in, absorbed, and has a nasty habit of creating acids that break down all those moving parts.

Dirty oil looks dirty. So take the stick, look at it, take some betwixt finger and thumb, rub. Compare to new oil. Check milage-go figure by experiment. It's Ur vehicle. Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles?hi,i would like to answer this because of all the answers you got, NOT ONE mentioned what happens to the oil filter. oil filters needs to be replaced also during an oil change.its a must as a rule of thumb. all oil filters except one,,, becomes restricted after 2000 miles and becomes more restricted at 5000miles, and affects the oil pressure. would you want a lower oil pressure at high speeds or any speeds.? this is the main reason why we need to replace oil and oil filter. most of them recommends at 3000miles. but for my own i replace it at 5000miles so its easy to remember and u dont have to use math to figure when to do next oil change. most oil filter manufacturer dont mention the low pressure pass data on their product EXCEPT ONE. and u know who. its the one that is six times more expensive. but most dont need to know this because they replace it anyway at 3000 miles .Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles?Nice one everyone!

    There's a twist.

The engineer is correct, if referring to synthetic oil. If you don't buy the best synthetic oil(more expensive)and go cheap - fossil oil, you will get all those bad things as the %26quot;experts%26quot; pointed out, as the oil will retain carbon and sulfur deposits and loose its lubricating properties. However, synthetic oil does not contaminate in the same manner, and I've done my oil changes (on new vehicle) at 1'700kms to change to full synthetic (Mobil one - at 3 times the cost of normal oil) again at 50'000kms 31'250miles, on 100'000kms 62'500miles and again on 150'000kms 93'750miles. I was then living in South Africa were the fuel quality isn't as good as in the Northern Americas or Europe. The oil might look dirty, though it still lubricates as it should, and I only changed the Filter and topped up halfway through each cycle.

    BE CARE FULL!

Your warranty might be in jeopardy if you do not comply with recommended servicing at a dealership.

    NOTE:

The manufacturer will recommend your required A-service intervals based on fuel quality in the area, contaminants in air, recommended oil type and some factors specific to your broader region.

That's what we do at our various dealership outlets. Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles? Those engineers have a boatload of book learning and no practical experience. The oil itself does not break down but the additives do and one of the jobs of oil is to gather the contaminants from combustion and condensation and keep it in suspension so it doesn't abrade or corrode the metals that would otherwise be rubbing against each other. It used to be that we changed oil every 2000 miles but oil is getting better all the time. OK, it isn't the oil that is getting better but the additives. We are using the same oil now as then, but with better additives. That combined with better metallurgy means that we can go further between oil changes now. 3000 to 5000 miles depending on the kind of service you are submitting your vehicle to. And change the filter. Don't be cheep on this one. Changing your oil is cheep compared to changing your engine, or buying a new car.
