I want to replace my 318 with a larger engine.?

I have a 64 Dodge Polara with a 318 and 727 Torqueflite and would like to change engine to either a 340 or a 383. How much more does the 383 weigh? I think the 340 would be a better fit do you agree?I want to replace my 318 with a larger engine.?id either go with a 340 or a 360 ,actually you can swap it to a 360 as easy as you can a 340 these days, and it will bolt right in to the bell housing you have now,and the amount of power you can get from it is enormous,i got a 67 belvedere with a 360 in it and it will literally scream when you get on it,this way you don't need to change the suspension or the k-frame on it,keep the 727 transmission in it as long as you can those are the best transmissions ever built for racing ,good luck.I want to replace my 318 with a larger engine.?go to edelbrock performance engines and look at the ones they have, they push well over 375 horse power and come with a good warranty, thats what i did was order one,its cheaper than trying to build one these days,it cost me around 1600.00 for the one i got, good luck.

I want to replace my 318 with a larger engine.?The 340 is the same basic engine, so it should drop in. You could probably get the 383 in with factory parts, too, but I'm less sure about clearances.I want to replace my 318 with a larger engine.?383 or 440 will add around 200lbs stay with the 360 or better yet get the 360 crate motorI want to replace my 318 with a larger engine.?I agree with Dodge man, use a 360, everything bolts up. Big blocks will fit with ease except the 426 Hemi which got a little tight around the fender wells if I remember correctly. I think the '64's still used pushbuttons for the automatics which will cause a problem if you use a big block and a post '64 big block transmission, the PARK button becomes inoperative because of different linkage.I want to replace my 318 with a larger engine.?hi -

your best bet is a 360 crate motor as discussed above - I am less sure this is a bolt in as I think you likely have a %26quot;poly%26quot; rather than an %26quot;LA%26quot; 318 if it is an original motorI want to replace my 318 with a larger engine.?your cheapest and best way to go would be build a 360. if done right the way me and my buddy did for his 71 dart.he is geting a 1/8 mile at around 5.60

There are a lot of myths and confusion about this topic. Be careful who you listen to.

The date is important because after so long, the oil becomes contaminated from moisture buildup in the engine. The miles vary because city stop-and-go driving is harder on the engine and wears out oil quicker than highway driving.

Do not pay attention to those that say every 3,000 miles. That interval is based on outdated information and a lack of understanding of modern oils. How often do I need to change engine oil for my car?As you can see by the previous answers, the answers you get will vary. 3,000 miles or 3 months is your traditional answer. As of late, I have heard 5,000 miles is ok for regular oil. Now, there are many synthetic oils on the market and are used in many newer cars from the factory that claim 6,000 miles or 6 months is the new service interval.

From my experience, I change it every 3,000 miles (with regular oil) which I usually put on in about 4-6 months. The fact is, oil changes are relatively cheap. I change it often as cheap insurance to avoid expensive engine repairs. Change it often, keep the oil at the recommended level, and drive happy. How often do I need to change engine oil for my car?Toyota's scheduled maintenance guide for the 2007 Toyota Corolla recommends changing the oil and oil filter every 5000 miles or 6 months. To prevent oil sludge problems Toyota reduced their recommended oil change interval from 7500 miles to 5000 miles in 2004 and warranty is now based on 5000 mile oil change intervals. But understand that their recommended 5000 mile oil change interval is intended to prolong the MINIMUM engine life to beyond the warranty period but it is in no way intended to prolong the engine life to the maximum mileage possible. If it was their intent to extend engine life closer to the maximum mileage possible I am sure the more frequent 3000 miles or 3 month oil change intervals would be recommended. How often do I need to change engine oil for my car?Because you drive locally more than on the freeway, you have a lot of stop and go driving. This is harder on the engine and you want to change your oil more often. Keep an eye on your oil level between changes and if you see that the level on the dipstick is dropping, get an oil and filter change. Also, smell the dipstick. If you smell gasoline in the oil, change the oil and filter immediately. How often do I need to change engine oil for my car?Every 3 months or 3000 miles whichever comes first. How often do I need to change engine oil for my car?daily use 3 months or 3000 miles

You need to change the oil filter with this too. Check the oil level every month though. How often do I need to change engine oil for my car?I go by the 5,000 mile rule. this just happens to come to about every 3 months. However, before you take it in, check the oil using your dipstick every couple of weeks, if the oil on it is still almost clear...then you can probably hold off on the change a little bit longer. If you find that it is dark...get it changed.

    - - -How to change engine oil in opel astra (2000) engine type1.4L,ecodriv?Well I dont have any pictures, but it is very easy. When you look under the engine there will be a drain bolt on the oil pan, you cannot miss it, open it with a container under it and let the oil drain out. Then you should be able to find the oil filter, remove it and replace with new, then fill the engine with oil, there will be a OIL cap on top of the engine, this is where you put the oil in, you cannot miss it.
