Changing engine for 1999 chevy cavalier?
what ecotec engine (i need exact car model to get it from)will be compatible with my car and how do i go about finding one for the swap....i know ppl are gonna say just get another car and i am i just want to keep this car to mess with ppl and to have alil fun with it because i have a free mechanic so its not like im wasting any moneyChanging engine for 1999 chevy cavalier?you could try ebay/junk yards/the paper/or just buy a new one from auto place.Changing engine for 1999 chevy cavalier?ecotec is i believe the 4 cylinder from gm its a coroprate enginethey use with i believe pontiac g6 saturn go to junk yard and i hate to say find one some crashed car the enging still should be good if you have the money get one from gm performance or try jasper engines and finally let the mechanic worry about finding the engine good luckChanging engine for 1999 chevy cavalier? An Ecotec out of any Cavalier or sunfire (2002 through 2005) will be the easiest to install. %26quot;Easiest%26quot; here is a bit misleading, however, because you still need all new motor/transmission mounts, transmission linkages, half shafts, etc. The chassis wiring harness also needs to be hacked to accept the Ecotec ECU, or replaced altogether with the harness out of the donor car. Installing an L61 Ecotec from any other FWD GM car will be somewhat more difficult than one sourced from a Cavalier, although less than that of a non-L61 Ecotec, which will ultimately require the most amount of fabrication.
