since its a high mileage motorHow often do I need to change my engine oil for my 2001 Toyota Carolla?Check your owner's manual. The factory specified interval varies between 5,000 and 7,500 miles for vehicles in normal service. Unless you do a LOT of stop and go driving or heavy towing in hot weather, you actually do NOT need to change your oil every 3,000 miles. How often do I need to change my engine oil for my 2001 Toyota Carolla?never!!!!Spend money on beer and lotto tickets!!!How often do I need to change my engine oil for my 2001 Toyota Carolla?you mean corolla, right? you should follow the manufacturer's recommended schedule, as printed in the car's owner's manual. this is for every car, truck, motorcycle, garden tractor, etc... you will EVER own!How often do I need to change my engine oil for my 2001 Toyota Carolla? You've got your answer basically. BUT know that the more the better. I don't believe that you could ever change your oil TOO OFTEN. 3000 miles or about 5000km is a number which is pretty much UNIVERSAL for EVERY CAR. Basically you are doing a transfusion for your engine. The more tiny particles, the more abrasive material within your engine, the sooner it will wear out. If you keep this lubricant - the blood so to speak - in your engine VERY CLEAN, THEORETICALLY your engine SHOULD never wear out. Friction is your enemy. Tiny particles are seemingly of little concern to the amateur. THEY ARE NOT, they WILL destroy your engine over time. I think you get the point. Your tranny by the way is similar. You should change your tranny oil from time to time. Usually FAR LESS frequently than your engine, but all the same at specific intervals. If you feel ANY GRIT in ANY LUBRICANT you should change it. GRIT causes FRICTION which causes DEATH to those parts. How often do I need to change my engine oil for my 2001 Toyota Carolla? It's probably a lose motor by now. I'd go every 5K. I flush my engine with deisel fuel every year or two to help get out the sludge. Basically, you drain your oil and put in a new filter. Put 4-5 quarts of deisel in the engine. Run it for 3-5 minutes. Drain and refill and start again for 3-5 minutes. Then drain and dump in a couple gallons....DO NOT START......then drain the few gallons out. Now you are ready for another new oil filter and your fresh oil. This process REALLY cleans up the crankcase and top end. You will be surprised at the gunk that comes out.How often do I need to change my engine oil for my 2001 Toyota Carolla? You should the oil every 3000 mile's or close to that as possible
