Does anyone know how much it cost to change an engine?

I have a car but I want to change the engine from stick to automatic.Does anyone know how much it cost to change an engine?$1800 USD. Given the fact you didn't tell us any details about what kind of car etc.Does anyone know how much it cost to change an engine?do you mean change the transmission?Does anyone know how much it cost to change an engine? Then you don`t have to change the engine just the transmission. But a little more info as to the type and year of car would really help. Sometimes it`s easier to just sell your car and get what you want. the cost may not be worth it.Does anyone know how much it cost to change an engine?Depends on where you get the parts.

If would be cheaper maybe to trade it in for one that is already an automatic. This is because the change may require a different computer control as well as interior part changes.

It would take 8 to 18 hours at what ever the shop rate is for a mechanic. In my parts the shops charge 50 to 100 dollars an hour. Even then it might not meet your expectations.Does anyone know how much it cost to change an engine?Yahoo It StupidDoes anyone know how much it cost to change an engine?I DON'T THINK YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE ENGINE FOR THAT. THE TRANSMISSION IS THE PART OF THE CAR THAT MAKES IT A STICK OR AUTOMATIC, BUT I DON'T KNOW IF ITS POSSIBLE TO DO. IT'S MORE THAN JUST CHANGING THE TRANSMISSION, I'M SURE IT WOULD INVOLVE OTHER SYSTEMS SUCH AS ELECTRICAL ETC.

THE COSTS, IF IT IS POSSIBLE, MIGHT BE PROHIBITIVE. IT MAY BE BETTER TO JUST BUY AND AUTOMATIC USED CAR AND TRADE IN THE ONE YOU HAVE.

UNLESS YOU GET A VERY GOOD MECHANIC I WOULD NOT TRUST THAT KIND OF MODIFICATION TO WORK PROPERLY. GOOD LUCK.Does anyone know how much it cost to change an engine? You need a lot of work to change it from automiatic to a standard.

Usually not worth the effort.
