What is engine rebuild and how much professional charge around to do it?

i have 1992 corolla and it has about 78k on it. i trying to get the car to run for a few more years before i can afford a new one. (i am a college student you see). i heard about engine rebuild and changing engine. Which one would be cheaper and which one would be more benefical?

thanksWhat is engine rebuild and how much professional charge around to do it?A 1992 Corolla should last you more than 78K. I had a 1984 Toyota Camry that lasted me almost 300K and never rebuilt the engine.

Wife's 2003 Toyota Corolla has 88K on it and the engine still runs really good. Though there's a little engine vibration now, I'm expecting it to last at least until 200K.

If your engine is broken, it's typically easier to fix the problem than rebuild it. But call up Autozone to determine how much a rebuilt one from them costs. You can then find a mechanic who will drop that engine in and remove your old one for an additional $500 over what the engine costs from Autozone. What is engine rebuild and how much professional charge around to do it?i would look into a used japanese engine for that, it is usually way cheaperWhat is engine rebuild and how much professional charge around to do it?If the car has been taken care of, it should last well past 120k miles...good oil and a good tuning will help it last. There shouldn't be any reason to rebuild your engine unless it doesn't run due to mechanical damge..ie thrown rod etc. rebuilds are expensive. You are paying for parts AND labor...$$$
