Is it tough to change the tranny fluid on a 2002 dodge ram 1500.?

How tough would it be to change the fluid? Can I do it myself? Whats involved? Is it like changing the engine oil?Is it tough to change the tranny fluid on a 2002 dodge ram 1500.?when you drain that one you have to lower the pan to one side or it will run all over the place, once its all drained out clean off all the old gasket and let it set for as long as you can so it will drain real good and wipe down all of the insides of the transmission that you can with a few old rags, then using a new gasket or form a gasket which works just as good put it in place and torque all the bolts down evenly not real tight at first just snug them and go back over them and snug all them up,and let it set for a few minute before adding fluid to it,if not it may leak on you,and make sure before you put the pan on that you straiten the pan up where the old bolts have drawn it up and caused small indents where the bolt go this will help assure it gets a good tight seal again, once all this is done refill it and start it and let it idle and proceed to fill it to the full mark when it reaches operating temperature, and check for leaks, its a simple job but time consuming, good luck with it.Is it tough to change the tranny fluid on a 2002 dodge ram 1500.?its not real hard, similar to oil. drain it and put fresh in, make sure you get the right weight( ask the auto store)Is it tough to change the tranny fluid on a 2002 dodge ram 1500.?Basically, the difference is you have to take the tranny pan off and clean up the gasket off the pan and tranny with (I use) a wire wheel on my drill and spray everything with electrical parts cleaner then wipe a couple times with a rag making sure you didn't leave anything behind. Then pull the filter out, they usually just push in to place. Then it depends on the gasket whether or not you use a sealer but I prefer the high tack adhesive because i've never had a leak with it. It pretty much works like rubber cement, but better. You just apply a really thin layer on both sides and let it dry then stick it making real sure the bolt holes are lined up by starting a couple bolts in the pan then putting in the rest. Just a little more than snug the bolts up after you have them all put back in making sure to not squeeze the gasket out cracking it.Is it tough to change the tranny fluid on a 2002 dodge ram 1500.?I think it would be more cost effective and convenient to have the transmission flushed instead of just changing the oil in the pan. You would only be replacing half the fluid just by dropping the pan. A tranmission fluid flush would replace 99% of the fluids. Best of luck.

How much does it cost to change your cars engine so it takes vegitable oil?

Changing engines (if you don't have a diesel now) is very problematic. Sure you can change out your engine, but if you live in one of the smog Nazi states (CA, HI, etc) it will be pretty difficult to pass smog inspection next time around. I'm not saying you can't get alternative fuel waivers, but it's far from simple.

If you live in a state without mandatory inspections things get a lot more reasonable. I'd expect you could do the swap for under 2K with a RWD vehicle. Then again, once biodiesel becomes a real economy don't expect free fry oil anymore. How much does it cost to change your cars engine so it takes vegitable oil?i think all diesels run on it normally. Myth Busters did a episode

i found it on youtube http://youtube.com/watch?v=QEX1YFXYTdI

although i dont know how good it really is for your motor you'll have to look it upHow much does it cost to change your cars engine so it takes vegitable oil?First of all you need to have a diesel for the platform. Then you need to go to grease car .com and find out what kit you will need . I will tell you , at the price of gas, I'm going to do it to . I believe that it will cost about 3,500.-- But you'll save that in fuel in less than 1 yr. and I believe that you might get a 5,000. -- tax credit for having a conversion vehicle. How much does it cost to change your cars engine so it takes vegitable oil?i dont know my parentrs wont let me drive tell i'm 18.

sorryHow much does it cost to change your cars engine so it takes vegitable oil?Not practical if your car runs on gasoline. Diesel engines are much heavier to stand the heat. How much does it cost to change your cars engine so it takes vegitable oil?A small fortune. You need a new engine.

Bike engined go kart - what can be used?

Am already planning to build Tiger Super Six kit car over the winter, but fancied something to build over the summer and have some fun with.

So my question is - what is the most adventurous bike engine you could feasibly fit onto a go-kart type chasis without breaking the bank? Has anyone built for example with a Ninja engine? If so how have you arranged eg clutch/gear change/engine mounting-orientation in respect of gear change?

I know that may sound ridiculous but this would be for fun not for entering a league to race with and thus obsense power sounds good to me... altho i do worry how it would go round corners

    any thoughts appreciated

    cheers

Ok, I found the solution in the above link (in French..). You need 2 plugins, Messenger Plus and Stuffplug.

    Messenger Plus:

    http://www.zdnet.fr/telecharger/windows/

Install it (BE SURE NOT to accept the sponsors in the second screen : %26quot;I refuse to give my support%26quot;).

    Install the plugin %26quot;Stuffplug%26quot;.

    http://www.generation-nt.com/telecharger

Now go to the Stuffplug options, you can choose %26quot;open all links in the default navigator%26quot;. If you selected Firefox as the default, it will do what you want.

How much would it cost to change the engine in my 2006 bmw 325I?

I have a little side cash and wanted to see if I could take the 215 hp engine and add something around 350-400 hp. How much would it cost approximately, including labor? How much would it cost to change the engine in my 2006 bmw 325I?about $8,000.00 and that includes the price of a good used engine. How much would it cost to change the engine in my 2006 bmw 325I?$10,000How much would it cost to change the engine in my 2006 bmw 325I?You could always replace it with the 333hp E46 M3 S54 engine, they cost around $6000 used for a low-mileage engine, and would end up costing upwards of $10,000 for engine+labor.

We replaced the Engine on our 2005 Audi A4 with an RS4 engine, and it ended up costing over $11,000.How much would it cost to change the engine in my 2006 bmw 325I?I'd look for a wrecked (hit in the rear or side) turbo 335i which would give you 300HP to start with and then do some mods that could easily increase the power to 350 or more. Dinan and other have relatively inexpensive mods such as cold air intake and chips that can bring the horsepower to the 350 mark with relative ease and cost effectiveness. I'd agree that the cost with labor will still be in the area of $7-10K. YOu could also look for an M3 engine that would put you at the 400 HP mark fasterbutt the transition would be more difficult as it's not going to be a drop in deal either.

If it were my money, which it's not, I'd think of trading the 2006 for a newer model and investing the money into the higher horsepower model already put together with some sort of warranty perhaps.

    Good luck.

  • Is it my imagination or do many people not know how to use the search engine?

Sometimes I will mention to someone that they can find something on the computer.

They ask for the exact URL and they are unable to look it up for themselves.

Some thing are .com some .org and of course there are others at there but....

I have found that if you ask the computer for what you want in a search engine, it will give it to you...and you can also change search engines if you cannot find it...there is google, yahoo and others.

Has anyone else noticed, that not everyone seems to know how to use a search engine? Is it my imagination or do many people not know how to use the search engine? You betcha. There are many people out there that don't know what 'key' words to put into the search engine to find what they are looking for. Personally, I usually don't have any trouble finding what I'm looking for when I'm on my browser. Maybe some of us are just more computer literate than some of the other people because we spend more time on our computers than those that try to use the various search engines only for special projects, people who are ignorant or don't have a clue as to how to use a search engine. And yet they manage to find their way to Yahoo Answers! Strange, isn't it?Is it my imagination or do many people not know how to use the search engine?Yes, some are not aware of it.

That's why we are here to answer. Is it my imagination or do many people not know how to use the search engine?Spend any time on Yahoo Answers, and this becomes very obvious. I would say as many as 50% of the questions asked in some categories are ones that could be answered in less time by just typing the question into a Google search.

It's one thing if someone is asking a specific question - like about a video released date - and they don't know the available resources. But people who ask general question drive me up the walls. Then again, half the kids asking questions here would probably have a hard time finding an answer since they can't use proper grammar. Is it my imagination or do many people not know how to use the search engine?I've noticed that here.. many people will wait for days, even weeks for answers here when it should have taken them less than 5 mins on google or wikipedia...Is it my imagination or do many people not know how to use the search engine?Well , there are many who don't know how to use a computer. So , what's the problem , if some peaple don't know how to use a search engine? Is it my imagination or do many people not know how to use the search engine?I can use a search engine but I enjoy getting answers from real people sometimes you get a better answer, or a different angleIs it my imagination or do many people not know how to use the search engine?Absolutely! A lot of people know what Google is, but beyond that, they have little concept of what a s/e is or does.

If you really want to confuse them... drop the term 'metasearch engine%26quot; on them! I've showed a lot of students in my IT classes what dogpile.com does... you should see their facial expressions.

One nice thing about Firefox and Internet Explorer is that if you enter a non-url, it will auto search the web. In a way, it kinda 'idiot proofs' searching the internet. Is it my imagination or do many people not know how to use the search engine?Yes.Is it my imagination or do many people not know how to use the search engine?i dont know..but then im stupid...i know nothing about computers....its all new to me....im self taught so that would make me the worst teacher in the world....i cant spell...i am losing the will to live...i have good reason to end it all....but ile keep going for a while longer...cos out there,..i know somone loves me......joke people......i was kidding about the last part..........cheers ....seamanabIs it my imagination or do many people not know how to use the search engine?Ok...I do know how to type in things on google that I have an interest in. However, when I am asking a question about something and I ask for a link, the weird thing is someone else ALWAYS gives me a better website than the ones I found on my own by googling it. So, even though I can find answers on my own...it never hurts for me to ask for others to give their websites either because you often find out a better site to explore.

Add a header, swap out the three speed tranny for a five, and you should be able to get around 300 hp out of it. thanksIs it possible to change the engine output on a motorbike?no you can,t make a bigger engine smaller 150cc is one hundred and fifty cubic centimeters so you can,t take a 250 cc and make it smaller..Best bet by a 125 enduro cheap and has the best re-sale value ride it for a year get you a real bike kike a CBRF41 honda or even a honda 919..Suzuki puts out a good line of sport bikes and so does kawasaki..Don,t waste your money on a harley unless you don,t really care about riding you will be broke down most of the time these honda,s come out of the box ready to rideIs it possible to change the engine output on a motorbike?Put a brick inside the cylinder to take up the extra displacement. Is it possible to change the engine output on a motorbike? No not possible to reduce the output of an engine. Can you change a v6 dodge ram to a v8 if so how much would it come close to?

i have a 1994 dodge ram 1500 v6 and im wondering how or if i can change the engine to a v8. and if i could about how much would it come out to.Can you change a v6 dodge ram to a v8 if so how much would it come close to?it would cost you about 800 in parts to swap it out with and then you,d have to get the exhaust done for it,you,d have around 1200-1400.00 in it counting labor and parts, you could trade the truck and pay that amount of difference and get v-8 truck, good luck. Can you change a v6 dodge ram to a v8 if so how much would it come close to?A 1994? It's absolutely MUCH cheaper to simply trade-in that vehicle and get a V8. Even on a brand-new V6 it would be more expensive to swap out to a V8 than to have simply started with the V8.

There's more than just the engine involved. Often V8 vehicles have more robust transmissions, suspensions, and larger brakes that people fail to factor in the cost... then add in a few grand in labor. Can you change a v6 dodge ram to a v8 if so how much would it come close to?It would be pointless to do this. A 16 yr old truck with a V6 is not worth much, so no point in spending a lot of money (thousands of $$$) to do this swap.

If you want a V8 truck, sell the V6 truck and buy one. No engine swap hassles. Can you change a v6 dodge ram to a v8 if so how much would it come close to?costs less to trade it in for a V8.

  • How do I separate the engine from the transaxle?

I have 95 Bonneville engine that ran out of oil and seized. Since this is my first attempt at changing an engine, I am not sure how to separate the engine from the transaxle. Does the engine have to be able to turn to remove the flywheel bolts from the transaxle? Once I get all the bolts removed, do I just slide the engine away from the transaxle or does the engine just come straight up? The car rides nice so I want to give this one try. Thanks. How do I separate the engine from the transaxle?I have a yrs subscription to Alldata.com and it gives step by step instructions in pictures to help you with this procedure. Some times you have to get very violent with this job and I've also been very violent found out that I didn't pull the last bolt out and no matter how hard I hit it, it was going nowhere. Good luck my friend. How do I separate the engine from the transaxle?remove bolts pullHow do I separate the engine from the transaxle? Not familiar with that engine, but ordinarily the two just slide apart a few inches when the bell housing bolts are all removed. Sometimes they have a death grip on each other and have to be cracked apart with a chisel and some gentle tapping, and sometimes there is a bolt that was not visible at first, a problem that is more common on rear wheel drive cars. If there is a mystery bolt it will separate about a mm on the opposite side. It is important the transmission be supported so the input shaft isn't bent in the process.

It seems like an increasing number of FWD cars are designed for the engine and transmission to be dropped out the bottom as a unit. It would be worthwhile to get a Haynes manual, if available, to clarify the process on yours. How Hard is it To Change a Engine in a 94' Honda Passport/Isuzu Rodeo ?

I like my Honda Passport. I want to get a gently used engine and swap em out. I have changed a 350 in a 76 Chevy PU. My Passport is 4WD. I hear that will make it hard to do. What about the torque converter. Do I need a new one with a seal to keep it form leaking? Is the engine and the transmission set up the same or similar to the old 350? There are hoist hooks on the block to lift it out with. Just wondering if it is possible to do without pulling the engine and transmission. How Hard is it To Change a Engine in a 94' Honda Passport/Isuzu Rodeo ?You may be able to pull the engine only if there is room to work around the transfer case and bell housing in order to free up the engine. If the torque converter is no leaking there should be no worries.

ThanksHow hard is it to change the rear engine mount on a 1990 Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9?the rear mounting on this car is bit of a ***** to change . first you need to take the drivers side drive shaft out as it runs thro the engine mount. then there is 4 bolts holding the unit in place ( take the whole alloy block out cos u need to use a press to get the new one in ) look at this pic on this website on item number 3 in the bottom left hand corner is the part that im talking about - (

) i know its a long link but its from a genuine opeugeot parts catalogue . once you got the bracket out the doughnut shaped rubber mounting needs to be pressed out and the new one then pressed in cos its a very tight fit .

its a common problem on peugeot especially if they have had an oil leak cois the oil rots the rubber and it does give a lot of engine movement once its worn .

  • How do i drain the 2 stroke oil out of a motorcycle engine? ?

my spark plug is black because there is too much oil going into the engine from the automatic mixer, firstly how do i take this oil out? is it from the petrol tank or do i have to change the engine oil? and how do i do it? is it straight forward?

thanks xHow do i drain the 2 stroke oil out of a motorcycle engine? ?Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer.

The mileage would also have been helpful.

Spark plugs starting to foul on 2 stroke engines, are a sign of a worn out top end (cylinder, piston %26amp; rings).

The low compression isn't strong enough to fully burn the oil in the fuel mixture. How do i drain the 2 stroke oil out of a motorcycle engine? ?Drain the oil reservoir and drain the fuel tank. Start it up until it quits. All the fuel/oil mixture will be out of the lines and the engine by then. How do i drain the 2 stroke oil out of a motorcycle engine? ?There is no accumulation of oil (as in a crankcase) in a two-stroke engine and oil does not need (can't) be drained. Most engines that are two-stroke must have the oil mixed with the petrol [we say gasoline :)] as it goes into the tank. Newer two strokes are built so that not much oil is used and the plugs don't foul often but older ones are prone to require plug changing often. Check your manual for the procedure for setting oil usage and/or mixing. I'm not familiar with engines that have an oil tank and automatic mixing so am not much help to you if your has that equipment. How do i drain the 2 stroke oil out of a motorcycle engine? ?Don't take the oil out -- that's your engine oil -- it gets used up so it doesn't have to be changed.

If the mixer is mixing too much oil, one possibility is that the fuel line is sucking air, or there's a restriction in the fuel intake - less fuel going in means a higher proportion of oil.

Are all the plugs black or just the one? Could just be you have a rich mixture fouling the plugs.

How to put porsche 911 engine into vw?

I have VW 73 and want to change the engine. Now already have the engine .porsche 911 sc. how to put the engine. Can someone quide me.help me pleaseHow to put porsche 911 engine into vw?If I remember correctly, the Porsche engine and Volkswagen will bolt up together. Use a Porsche clutch, pressure plate and VW throwout bearing. If you had the Porsche transmission it will bolt in too, and the advantage is that the VW is a 4 speed and the Porsche is a 5 speed.

Now the hard part. the Porsche is a 6 cylinder engine and the VW only has 4. All the VW engine shrouding won't work with this swap, and you might have to do some bodywork to the VW to get that big engine to fit.

But this swap IS possible, and makes a cool car once it's done. Good luck. How to put porsche 911 engine into vw?This swap is %26quot;possible%26quot; but not practicable. This will be an enormous undertaking because the 3 liter SC engine will not fit in the VW engine bay. The VW transmission won't handle the torque, etc. Huge modifications will be required. Think in terms of years to complete and thousands and thousands of dollars in expense.

You would be better off selling the SC engine (very popular for a 914/6 conversion and a good engine) and putting a 4 cylinder Type IV engine in your VW for great performance. Jake Raby is the guru of these conversions. Check his site below. He might even swap you a Type IV engine for your 6 cylinder. Jake can build a Type IV with more HP than your SC engine and it'll fit right in your VW engine bay.

Good luck. How to put porsche 911 engine into vw?Ben's on the right track. I've done several Type IV conversions using plans from www.nextgen-usa.com, with a few of my own modifications.

The Type IV mill will fit right in with only a few mods, %26amp; works great. The biggest expenses are dual carbs %26amp; the exhaust.

You can swipe a Type IV engine from any VW 411 or 412, a mid '72 or later Transporter, or a Porsche 914 or 912.

The Type IV engine can be punched out to 2400 cc without losing any reliability. Bolt on a pair of 44mm carbs, %26amp; you're off. The really nice thing is that you add less than 50 lbs of extra weight. If you really want to get radical, you can convert to a Bus tranny too, as they're much stronger than the Type I unit, but it's a lot of work.

I have a 1999 Lincoln Town Car, I need to know how can I replace/Change the Engine A/C, Power Steering Belt?

First try and find the diagram that shows you the way your belt is routed it should be on the underside of the hood are on the cover of the radiator, Now find the tensioner pulley (it should be spring loaded) and look on the back side of it to see if it has a square hold that take's a 3/8 ratchet to fit into ,if so thats where you release the belt from, but if it does'nt have a hole for a ratchet then you will put a wrench on the bolt of the pulley and push or pull to release. I have a 1999 Lincoln Town Car, I need to know how can I replace/Change the Engine A/C, Power Steering Belt?I'm being totally serious when I say if You can't see how to do that, you are not mechanically inclined enough to do that. If you're just being cautious, you can get a shop manual. It's not that you can't learn how to do it, but you probably shouldn't learn on a real car that you have to drive. Nothing horrible will happen, but you may get stranded. Have a mechanic do it and ask if you can watch if you stay quiet and out of the way. • Is there some type of conversion kit to change a gasoline engine into a natural gas engine? where to find it?

I have a fuel injected engine in my Toyoto and I want to burn natural gas it instead of gasoline. I know that there used to be a type of conversion kit for carburetors, but since fuel injection, I don't know. and how much work would be required to make such a conversion. Is there some type of conversion kit to change a gasoline engine into a natural gas engine? where to find it?There are conversions but they are really drastic. You have to have a different fuel storage tank and many other components that sometimes don't work well with original equipment. They can be a bit costly but a natural gas powered engine runs cleanly and efficiently for a long time and does far less harm to the ozone layer then a conventional power source. Good luck. Is there some type of conversion kit to change a gasoline engine into a natural gas engine? where to find it?Natural gas conversions are usually done by a gas specialist. However, propane conversions are fairly easy to come by. Just get one for a forklift with a similar sized engine. I have one in my barn that I bought off ebay that I intend to put on my tractor someday.

The propane conversion kit will come with a vaporizer and a fuel atomizer. The atomizer goes anywhere in the intake air stream.

It might be possible to convert a propane atomizer to work with natural gas if the pressure from the natural gas source was regulated correctly.

You will of course need a supply of compressed natural gas as well.

I built a multi fuel vehicle in chemical engineering class. The biggest drawback to using natural gas was having to compress it from the gas lines for storage in the truck. Propane comes already nicely packaged in liquid form for quick refueling away from home.

    Good luck with your project.

How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil change

This is 2002 Honda Accord. It requires 5W-20 engine oil. Back in 90s, car manufacturer recommended every 3000 miles, now in 21st century it's every 5000 miles.

However, a number of honest mechanics tell me that even back in 90s with older technology engines, it could have gone as long as every 7000 miles. The reason for 3000 or current 5000 miles, is that it sells engine oils and keeps the shops in business. Of course, doing it more often won't do the engine any harm, but if you can't afford that usually, you can wait much longer than manufacturer recommendation.

Can any of you share you engine oil change habit/practice? With newer technology, I don't think it needs to be every 3000 miles. How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil changewell your manufacture's recommendation for your specific car didn't change with the turn of the century. otherwise why wonder what everyone else thinks you should do if you think the people that made the car are wrong. How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil change 3000 miles or 3 months which ever comes first... If you don't do regular oil changes filth will biuld up in your engine and distroy it over time. I have seen engines die with as little as 70,000 miles just from lack of maintance.

If you can't afford that many do it yourself it is much cheaper and anybody can do it...How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil changetry following the manufacturer's recommendation.

what does your oil look and feel like at 2500 miles, 3000, 4000 or 6000?How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil change4000How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil changeBetter oil filters mean less changing. v-tech means nothing. How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil changeThe engine isn't as much of a factor as the oil is at this point. The oil itself never wears out. Its the additives in the oil that have a usable life. They capture and hold the deposits and byproducts of the combustion process. That's why you also want to warm up the engine when you change the oil, its better at binding when warm. The car manufactures would like it to be as long as possible between oil changes so that they can lower the operating costs of the vehicle over its lifespan. That's another selling point for them and alot of car manufactures give you the first few services for free. Might not seem like alot for just your car but compound it for every car they sell at its alot of money they save. I have a shop and I change oil in my own vehicles every 3000 miles. For the cost of the oil change ($9.00 my cost) its cheap insurance. If you have ever opened up and engine to do work you sometimes see an amazing about of sludge. Regular oil changes stop that from being able to build up.How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil changeI'd do every 3000 still for conventional, 6000 for synthetic. It being VTEC doesn't mean a damn thing as far as oil goes.

Personally, I drive a big van with a solid 5.2L V8 engine. Holds 5 quarts, but strong enough that when I inherited it, it had been running on less than 2. I only put Mobil-1 Synthetic Truck/SUV oil in. That, along with spark plugs / wires / dist. cap afforded me an extra 3mpg. I change my oil about every 5000, but usually because I do a full 'tune up' after certain events (Flooding, new tires, etc.... %26quot;Get that thing running it's best%26quot; type of mentality)

I owned a toyota solara 2005 and i need to change the Engine Oil need help here!?

i owned a toyota solara 2005 and i need to change the oil!! need help here

im thinking that im gonna buy Engine Oil, thinking buy Castrol or mobil 1

and bring to the store and let them change it for me. is that normal , i mean can i do that? buy my own oil and give them to change the oil for me ? how much does it usually, if i have my owned oil ? my car is V6 3.3L

and im thinking what kind of oil is better :

Castrol GTX High Mileage, SAE 5W-30

API*, SL 5W-30 - Castrol GTX High Mileage - Superior oil burn-off protection... 17% better than leading conventional oils.* *NOACK volatility test of leading 10W- 30s GTX High Mileage is specially engineered with unique additives conventional oils don`t have, to meet the changing needs of high mileage vehicles.

    --------------------------or----------?br>

    Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W-30

Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W-30 fully synthetic motor oil is designed for today's longer service intervals. It provides guaranteed performance and protection for 15,000 miles or one year. Mobil 1 Extended Performance products with the Advanced SuperSyn System contain extra performance additives to help deliver outstanding engine protection.

the price is different too!!I owned a toyota solara 2005 and i need to change the Engine Oil need help here!?Let's slow down here. Remove foot from gas pedal and coast to a safe speed.

The M1 oils you show are all full synthetic. The Castrol oils are a mix of full synth, synth blend, and conventional. Decide whether you want a full synth oil or not and go from there.

The M1 EP and the regular M1 are basically the same oil but the EP version has additives to allow for a longer drain interval. The M1 AFE is a different oil, a little thinner than the 5W-30, and designed for better fuel economy. Decide which is more important to you and go from there.

    Where is your oil filter?

If it were me, I'd stick with the regular M1 5W-30. Get a good oil filter and take it to wherever you are going to have this done. Ask first if they will use your stuff and what they would charge. I've done that and the shop usually charges me around $15 for labor.I owned a toyota solara 2005 and i need to change the Engine Oil need help here!?Yes. You can do that but they generally charge the same (20 bucks) and won't warranty the work; usually they will replace the filter (including the part) without charging you but you have to check.

For a v6 camry (solara) you want nothing less than 5-30 full synthetic oil. NOT HIGH MILEAGE, not a blend. Brand doesn't really matter, I've used just about everything. The best you can buy in a store is probably royal purple (walmart) but the best cheaper alternative is Pennzoil Platinum, it's as good as mobil 1. Bottom of the barrel is Quaker State Q...absolute garbage.

By brand I'd go Royal Purple, Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum, Syntec.

By cost Platinum would be the best bang for the buck, of course my engine oil is 5.75 liters. Ouch every time.

  • Turning an engine into a fuel injected engine instead of an engine with a carburetor.?

I noticed a kit that would change an engine with a carburetor to a fuel injected engine. How well do these work and how much is install for something like this? I have a 1981 camaro z28...fyi. Any links to affordable kits would be appreciated.Turning an engine into a fuel injected engine instead of an engine with a carburetor.?I'm not familiar with specific kits, but some of them replace the carburetor with a throttle body injector.

It is basically an electronic carburetor. Many cars in the eighties used them when injection first became popular. It uses one or two injector nozzles above the throttle plate. It is a simpler system than multi-port systems.

If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?

I have got a car with a very high mileage and due to this reason i am finding it hard to sell. I have calculated that if i change the engine with a low mileage one i could sell my car much easier and make profit on top. What i want to know is when i do this how do i get my mileage on the clock to be set to the mileage of the new engine? I know i have to notify DVLA of the changes made to the car. Also what happens to the MOT that is registered on the system, which indicates the final mileage of the car on your last MOT date? Thanks. If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?The mileage on the car, is the mileage on the car, NOT of the engine. If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?The rest of the car has done 136k still. Save your money on the engine and just have everything steam cleaned in the engine bay, let people draw their own conclusions !!!!!!If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?Don't waste anymore time on your theory. Mileage is based on the miles traveled by the car not the motor. Nice try!If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?If you change the engine, the mileage would stay the same to reflect the mileage on the body, suspension components, interior etc%26gt; but it would no longer reflect the mileages of the engine. even if you put a brand new engine woth 0 miles on it you still can't legally change the odometer, becasue the rest of the car transmission, sterring components.etc. etc. would still have that much wear on it.If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?The mileage recorded, is the mileage the CAR has travelled, and has nothing to do with the engine, therefore to 'clock' your car for gain is illegal....If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?you can change the engine but the mileage will stay the same on the car.......and yes you are right you have to nitify DVLAIf you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?The milage on the vehicle will remain the same. it's illegal to roll the speedometer backIf you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?its against the law to change the mileage of a car....it stays what it is no matter what you do to the engine.. change it and get in trouble..If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?you can change(if you know how) your mileage anytime. But to be in compliance with the DOT, you must report any doing so. So whether you change your engine or not, your mileage should stay the same, but when you list your car for sale. just note that the engine is new(er) and has x amount of miles on it. But do note that anytime you change your odometer that it is a big red flag and your car is now worth less. So as to whether your car would be worth more if you rolled your odometer back and put a new engine in, it would probably be a wash and would be as equal value giving the time and $ it took you to replace the engine and the hit you will take on the value of your car after you change your odometer. If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?really it will not make any different it will make it look as if the car was not taking care of and you had to replace the motor which is not a good sign either if your having a problem selling a car i would think the first thing that should be done is make the price better and not spend more money on a car you dont want makes not sense to sell the car lower the price.... you dont say what kind of car you have that could have help us in helping you get a better price rangeIf you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?The mileage on the wear and tear of the other parts of the car will still be the same. Some cars, like GM has a tamper device that would show up if the mileage were changed.

Besides that, if the mileage is changed and you try to sell it, it won't match the renewal registrations for prior years.

If you sell it, I'd just tell the prospective buyer it has a new engine with 58k on it. I say 58k because that's the mileage all used engines have on them, so they say.If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?Yeah, the mileage is stuck there. All you can really do is inform the buyer that a new engine was put in.

How difficult would it be to change a 6cyl engine out with a 4 cyl?

I have a ranger with a 6cyl engine. I want the fuel economy and dont need the power. How easy would it be to put a 4 cyl in it? has anyone done this? How difficult would it be to change a 6cyl engine out with a 4 cyl?I have a Ranger with a six cylinder. My son has a Ranger with a four cylinder. I get better gas mileage than he does.

It is actually any easy swap. Mounts, transmission are no trouble but flywheel, wiring, computer, exhaust will have to be changed. How difficult would it be to change a 6cyl engine out with a 4 cyl?Not worth the time, labor, and frustration. Different ECU, electrical, transmission. How difficult would it be to change a 6cyl engine out with a 4 cyl?The computer will need to be recalibratedor replaced and there may be issues with clutch/tranny/drivetrain components not bolting up or not fitting properly. Contact a local Ford Dealer ask for %26quot;Parts%26quot; tellem what u want to do they should be able to tell u what is/is not compatable. Of call a reputable auto recycler they should also know what will ffit easilyHow difficult would it be to change a 6cyl engine out with a 4 cyl? This may not be the overall best solution to your fuel mileage problem. A smaller, 4-cylinder engine will have to work harder to move the truck down the road, and may actually get worse gas mileage than the V6 that's in your truck now.

If you really want a truck that gets better fuel mileage, then buy one that's engineeried from the ground up for that purpose. How difficult would it be to change a 6cyl engine out with a 4 cyl?it would,nt be worth the effort changing it over. maybe all you 6 cylinder needs is a good tune-up and besides the rear end is made for the 6 cylinder and the computer is set up for the 6 so you see it will take more money then it,s worth.

How do i know if my car needs an oil change?

i just bought the car and i dont know if the previous owner ever change the engine oil.

anyways i know it has something to do with the oil dip stick, so how do i tell if it needs an oil change?

thanks. How do i know if my car needs an oil change?check if the oil on the dipstick is black .. if it is it need oil change also inside ur car the oil change light would turn onHow do i know if my car needs an oil change? When you buy a second hand car, it's always good practice to change the oil when you get it along with the oil filter. After that, change it every three thousand miles along with the oil filter. It is also good practice to change or inspect the air filter (It is white when new, but if it is excessively dirty, change), spark plugs, wire set, distributor if this applies to your vehicle. Also have the codes pulled for free at autozone. Somes codes will not illuminate the check engine light.

Midas has pretty complete car checks for free. There's a board that tells you what's free when you go in. Take it there to get the oil change and don't jump to get anything repaired before getting a second opinion although I had a good experience there. You should also check the condition of your transmission fluid. Midas will check the ph/condition of your coolant if you bring it there also. Coolant should be green or red, depending on what type you use. Transmission fluid should always be red.How do i know if my car needs an oil change?Pull out dipstick, look at color. Dark change. wipe stick between fingers grity, change. And last taste a little off your fingers burnt tasting, change any way were talking 5 bucks to do it your self so go ahead. Once you have changed the oil, try and change it every 3-6K miles or at least semi annually.

The oil is the life blood of the engine, keep it clean and you'll get a lot of mileage and wear out of the engine. How do i know if my car needs an oil change? If the oil is black, change it... honey brown is a good. read the dipstick, it will tell you to add more if it needs it.. be sure its the right weight oilHow do i know if my car needs an oil change? Also the oil on the stick will look dark and

I would get it changed, then next time

you can go by the mileage. How do i know if my car needs an oil change? You would have been wise to have the car checked by a mechanic before you bought it. They would have evaluated the car for you to see what's wrong with it, as well as what general maintenance it needed. You didn't even ask the previous owner for any maintenance history?! Take it to a professional and find out what shape she's in before you do anything else with her. They'll show you how to check the oil in the future. How do i know if my car needs an oil change? If the oil looks thick and dark in color. It hasn't been changed for a long time. It does not cost very much. After that, change it every 3000 miles. How do i know if my car needs an oil change?Pull the dip stick out of the engine - if the oil on the stick is thick and jet black, then it needs changing. If you look at new oil you'll recognise the difference. How do i know if my car needs an oil change?3000 miles or three monthsHow do i know if my car needs an oil change?Go ahead and get it changed... you are suppose to do it every 3000 miles when you drive in town allot and up to 5000 when you drive allot of highway miles..How do i know if my car needs an oil change?always change your oil after buying a car. Then, go by the manufacturers mileage recommendation for future oil changes.

In General, if the oil on the dip stick is real dark....it should be changed. But you can check it manually with your dip stick. You want to check it manually before your light comes on. when you dip your stick in you whip it off with a towel. If your towel doesn't have oil on it you need to get more oil. You can go to Jiffy Lube and get it checked for about 20 bucks if you don't feel confident enough to do it yourself. How do i know if my car needs an oil change?Wait until the engine starts to make terrible noises and sparks come out the exhaust.....

Just change the oil then you will know it's done. How do i know if my car needs an oil change?Check the dipstick, pull it out and wipe it clean then stick it back in to check the level. If it comes out coffee black it needs a change. It should come out looking/smelling like clean motor oil which has an Amber color. There is no drain plug. You need to drop the belly pan to get access to the trans. The factory procedure is to flush it using special equipment. Draining it by dropping the pan removes less than half of the fluid.

To change the oil, remove the belly pan to get at the oil sump. Actually, the factory procedure is to siphon it out through the dipstick tube.

Thanks for the help!I have a 1997 ford E350 with a V10 6.8L engine, to change the fuel filter do i need a special tool?Yes, you will need a special tool, it is called a spring lock tool. They are made of plastic and they wrap around the fuel line. You can find them and most auto part stores. When you go to get one, tell the parts guy you are trying to remove a fuel filter on your vehicle. and BE SURE to tell him it is for a Ford. He will know exactly what you are looking for. If you are not sure how to use it, ask the parts guy, he will show you how. You commonly buy that tool as a set which has different sizes. a good set will cost about $20. give or take.I have a 1997 ford E350 with a V10 6.8L engine, to change the fuel filter do i need a special tool?Yes you probably will ask one of your mechanic friends cause a shop will tell you any thing to make you give it to them so they can get paid. How often do you need to change car oil?

I know it's really important to change the engine oil so I make regular checks however I'm starting to think that I may be doing it wrong.

The way I check is how I was taught when learning to drive. That is to use the dipstick and dip it in the oil when it's cold and if it is between the min. and max. mark then it's okay. Well I've been doing this for the past 10months with my car now and the oil never seems to have gone down. Does this sound right? How often do you need to change car oil?sometimes good cars dont use alot of oil.look in the owners manual and it will tell you how many quarts it holds.usually it good to change every 2000 3000 miles!!depending on oil.How often do you need to change car oil?I think you're getting confused between checking %26amp; changing the oil in your car.

A decent modern car won't use or lose any oil, so you shouldn't notice any drop in level on the dipstick. Keep checking though, so if the car does start using oil, you'll notice quickly %26amp; hopefully get any potential problem sorted.

The car will have a service schedule which tells you how often the oil should be changed (this is where a garage or mechanic replaces all of your engine's old oil with new stuff). The intervals vary, but it's usually around 12 months or 10,000 miles in the UK (up to 30,000 on some vehicles). In the US, people still seem to change their oil much more frequently (3 months or 3,000 miles), but with modern synthetic %26amp; semi synthetic oils, that's just not necessary unless you have a very high performance car.How often do you need to change car oil?It will tell you in the car hand book how often to change the oil - with modern cars it can be every 9000 - 15000 miles depending on the car but it must be done at least every 12 months, whichever comes first - the mileage or the year. My Smart car oil change is every 9000 miles but as I don't do 9000 miles in a year, I have to have the oil changed every 12 months. If your oil doesn't go down, as shown on the dipstick, then the car is not burning oil but it will probably look very black and dirty - this shows it is doing it's job and keeping your engine clean and well oiled. How often do you need to change car oil?Just because your oil level doesn't get lower doesn't mean you don't need to change your oil. If the oil is really dark and smells burnt, I would change it. Typically you should change your oil every 5000 miles depending on how the car is driven and the environment it is driven in. Are you stuck in traffic all the time and the car is at idle a lot? You should probably change your oil more often. How often do you need to change car oil?Yes it is possible for it not to go down in that time.

Cars have different needs when it comes to oil changes for miles and time.

Your owners manual and/or service book should tell you when to do yours. It is never longer than 12 months though between changes. How often do you need to change car oil? What you are doing to check the oil is fine. But, compared to the alternative, oil is cheap. Replace it every 3-4 thousand miles. How often do you need to change car oil?Yep! That's fine - do it on level ground and you will get the mark right.

Change the oil every 10,000 miles at least - I do mine every 6 months regardless of the miles I have done......clean oil means clean running and smoother operation. How often do you need to change car oil?You still need to change it

it gets dirty and doesn't lubricate properly

You should change it about twice a yearHow often do you need to change car oil?Use Mobil One, %26quot;designed to meet your car-makers spec's.%26quot; Change it once a year, or when it gets really dark or thick. How often do you need to change car oil?they say every 3 month or every 3000 mile which ever comes first. How often do you need to change car oil?i do mine every 10.000 miles and the clock is now on 256.000 miles and i have had no probs.

On a chevy small v8 how do you get a ratchet on the side of the engine to change the spark plugs, any tips?

There are a couple of ways to remove the plugs in tight places. #1. Take off the front tires and remove the plugs through the upper-A arm opening inside the fender-well. #2. There are companies such as S%26amp;K who make deep well spark plug sockets with a hex on the 3/8 socket end so you can remove the plugs with a combination / end wrench.

Occasionally you have to take one of these steps where combinations of regular extensions or wobble head extensions and ratchets won't fit.

As for Wess, I'll bet he's never worked inside a new no-horsepower Ford pick-up engine compartment! They're a freaking sweet-heart!On a chevy small v8 how do you get a ratchet on the side of the engine to change the spark plugs, any tips?Use a 3 inch extension with a wobble head on it. Works like a charm. On a chevy small v8 how do you get a ratchet on the side of the engine to change the spark plugs, any tips?Sell the peice of **** chevy and buy a fordOn a chevy small v8 how do you get a ratchet on the side of the engine to change the spark plugs, any tips?Get creative!! Most spark plug sockets have the possibility of using a socket wrench on it instead of just the ratchet or extension. Hopefully, you are not bothering to use the junk AC Delco plugs that do not burn consistently, and are installing a set of Denso Iridium or Bosch Fusion plugs that extract more power from the chemicals in the unleaded fuels. You should mention WHAT this engine is sitting in, since it is the chassis design that makes plug installation difficult, not the engine itself. Most cars of this period were designed for ease of manufacture, and not for ease of repair. Good luck!On a chevy small v8 how do you get a ratchet on the side of the engine to change the spark plugs, any tips?I've done thousands. You take off the tire and use a two foot extension with a swivel on the end. On some of them you can use a palm ratchet to get the plug out with a 1 inch extension. It's a pain but it works.
