How often do you need to change car oil?

I know it's really important to change the engine oil so I make regular checks however I'm starting to think that I may be doing it wrong.

The way I check is how I was taught when learning to drive. That is to use the dipstick and dip it in the oil when it's cold and if it is between the min. and max. mark then it's okay. Well I've been doing this for the past 10months with my car now and the oil never seems to have gone down. Does this sound right? How often do you need to change car oil?sometimes good cars dont use alot of oil.look in the owners manual and it will tell you how many quarts it holds.usually it good to change every 2000 3000 miles!!depending on oil.How often do you need to change car oil?I think you're getting confused between checking %26amp; changing the oil in your car.

A decent modern car won't use or lose any oil, so you shouldn't notice any drop in level on the dipstick. Keep checking though, so if the car does start using oil, you'll notice quickly %26amp; hopefully get any potential problem sorted.

The car will have a service schedule which tells you how often the oil should be changed (this is where a garage or mechanic replaces all of your engine's old oil with new stuff). The intervals vary, but it's usually around 12 months or 10,000 miles in the UK (up to 30,000 on some vehicles). In the US, people still seem to change their oil much more frequently (3 months or 3,000 miles), but with modern synthetic %26amp; semi synthetic oils, that's just not necessary unless you have a very high performance car.How often do you need to change car oil?It will tell you in the car hand book how often to change the oil - with modern cars it can be every 9000 - 15000 miles depending on the car but it must be done at least every 12 months, whichever comes first - the mileage or the year. My Smart car oil change is every 9000 miles but as I don't do 9000 miles in a year, I have to have the oil changed every 12 months. If your oil doesn't go down, as shown on the dipstick, then the car is not burning oil but it will probably look very black and dirty - this shows it is doing it's job and keeping your engine clean and well oiled. How often do you need to change car oil?Just because your oil level doesn't get lower doesn't mean you don't need to change your oil. If the oil is really dark and smells burnt, I would change it. Typically you should change your oil every 5000 miles depending on how the car is driven and the environment it is driven in. Are you stuck in traffic all the time and the car is at idle a lot? You should probably change your oil more often. How often do you need to change car oil?Yes it is possible for it not to go down in that time.

Cars have different needs when it comes to oil changes for miles and time.

Your owners manual and/or service book should tell you when to do yours. It is never longer than 12 months though between changes. How often do you need to change car oil? What you are doing to check the oil is fine. But, compared to the alternative, oil is cheap. Replace it every 3-4 thousand miles. How often do you need to change car oil?Yep! That's fine - do it on level ground and you will get the mark right.

Change the oil every 10,000 miles at least - I do mine every 6 months regardless of the miles I have done......clean oil means clean running and smoother operation. How often do you need to change car oil?You still need to change it

it gets dirty and doesn't lubricate properly

You should change it about twice a yearHow often do you need to change car oil?Use Mobil One, %26quot;designed to meet your car-makers spec's.%26quot; Change it once a year, or when it gets really dark or thick. How often do you need to change car oil?they say every 3 month or every 3000 mile which ever comes first. How often do you need to change car oil?i do mine every 10.000 miles and the clock is now on 256.000 miles and i have had no probs.
