If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?

I have got a car with a very high mileage and due to this reason i am finding it hard to sell. I have calculated that if i change the engine with a low mileage one i could sell my car much easier and make profit on top. What i want to know is when i do this how do i get my mileage on the clock to be set to the mileage of the new engine? I know i have to notify DVLA of the changes made to the car. Also what happens to the MOT that is registered on the system, which indicates the final mileage of the car on your last MOT date? Thanks. If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?The mileage on the car, is the mileage on the car, NOT of the engine. If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?The rest of the car has done 136k still. Save your money on the engine and just have everything steam cleaned in the engine bay, let people draw their own conclusions !!!!!!If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?Don't waste anymore time on your theory. Mileage is based on the miles traveled by the car not the motor. Nice try!If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?If you change the engine, the mileage would stay the same to reflect the mileage on the body, suspension components, interior etc%26gt; but it would no longer reflect the mileages of the engine. even if you put a brand new engine woth 0 miles on it you still can't legally change the odometer, becasue the rest of the car transmission, sterring components.etc. etc. would still have that much wear on it.If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?The mileage recorded, is the mileage the CAR has travelled, and has nothing to do with the engine, therefore to 'clock' your car for gain is illegal....If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?you can change the engine but the mileage will stay the same on the car.......and yes you are right you have to nitify DVLAIf you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?The milage on the vehicle will remain the same. it's illegal to roll the speedometer backIf you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?its against the law to change the mileage of a car....it stays what it is no matter what you do to the engine.. change it and get in trouble..If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?you can change(if you know how) your mileage anytime. But to be in compliance with the DOT, you must report any doing so. So whether you change your engine or not, your mileage should stay the same, but when you list your car for sale. just note that the engine is new(er) and has x amount of miles on it. But do note that anytime you change your odometer that it is a big red flag and your car is now worth less. So as to whether your car would be worth more if you rolled your odometer back and put a new engine in, it would probably be a wash and would be as equal value giving the time and $ it took you to replace the engine and the hit you will take on the value of your car after you change your odometer. If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?really it will not make any different it will make it look as if the car was not taking care of and you had to replace the motor which is not a good sign either if your having a problem selling a car i would think the first thing that should be done is make the price better and not spend more money on a car you dont want makes not sense to sell the car lower the price.... you dont say what kind of car you have that could have help us in helping you get a better price rangeIf you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?The mileage on the wear and tear of the other parts of the car will still be the same. Some cars, like GM has a tamper device that would show up if the mileage were changed.

Besides that, if the mileage is changed and you try to sell it, it won't match the renewal registrations for prior years.

If you sell it, I'd just tell the prospective buyer it has a new engine with 58k on it. I say 58k because that's the mileage all used engines have on them, so they say.If you change the engine of your car what happens to the mileage of the car?Yeah, the mileage is stuck there. All you can really do is inform the buyer that a new engine was put in.
