I went to change my engine oil yesterday. They told me the plug of my engine oil tank is stripped and they cannot release the old oil. Also the engine oil pressure on the pane is pretty low although the oil is full. Anyone knows what is the problem and how much it would cost to repair it? I don't have time to ask a garage and want to have a general idea of it before I go to a garage.

this can be repaired by using a heli coil insert or retapping the pan plug hole worst case get a junkyard pan and replace the old one as far as oil pressure goes if your sure its low i would have a shop flush and clean the engine if its older and high miles other than that next time list the make model and yearAnyone knows about engine oil tank plug stripped?well you can buy every thing you need to do the job your self for about what they are going to charge you really and not a hard thin gto fix.. you take a screwdriver and pry a bit on the plug while you try and remove with the right tool....most of the time it wil come on out .. then you get another drain plug... many of thses quick lube places are not willing to work on cars so you can find another shop a real place to change your oil and do work not walmarts or jiffy lube places are place you dont want to go too any timeAnyone knows about engine oil tank plug stripped?I'll actually answer your question... one didnt you ask about the plug not the pan? retards cant read. Answer-Vise Grips, channel locks, needle nose... buy a new plug ruffly 12-18 dollars. take it back to where you went say get that old one out and put this one in. Oil pressure will be greatly affected by the oil filter which is usually replaced with an oil change... after new oil and filter is installed.... and you still have less than 25 psi at idle, your pump may need restoration or replacementAnyone knows about engine oil tank plug stripped?Go to your auto parts store and tell them that your oil plug is stripped. As for the low oil pressure... you probably need new oil pump.
Good Luck....Anyone knows about engine oil tank plug stripped?If it's the head of the plug, a nut can be welded on the top of it to get it out. Any shop with a lift and a welder can do this. Just get a new plug before you go so they don't try and charge you too much for one.
