How can I make my Straight Six engine stronger?

I have a 1967 Mustang Coupe, automatic transmission. It has a pathetic Inline 6 in it that hardly gives it any power. Is there any way to modify it at all to make it stronger without changing the engine? How can I make my Straight Six engine stronger?I have a (European) car with [pathetic?] in-line 6 cyl (3.2 litre) engine, the power output is 340BHP...

I know of 2.5 litre V6 (not much different from in-line 6 cyl) with 1000BHP...How can I make my Straight Six engine stronger? The 351/400M is a 2 bolt main design engine....horrible for building power...If you have the 200ci engine that was offered in those cars, you could swap the head with one from a 1976 250ci inline 6, and add a Clifford intake that will allow you to swap to a 2bbl. carb, instead of the single that it came with. Add a header, swap out the three speed tranny for a five, and you should be able to get around 300 hp out of it. If you have anything smaller than the 200 6, swap it for a 302, or a 351 cleveland, and a t6 tranny, and start your build there. How can I make my Straight Six engine stronger? It will feel a lot stronger with drag race gears in the rear end, it should be 3.20:1 stock, you need some 3.5 or 3.73's, a 8.8 from a 90's Mustang is the way to go..
