How does Johnson keep the poll for the 500?

He changed engines for the 150s and that put him to the back. Why is that not applying to the race? It is not the same engine that he won the poll with. How does Johnson keep the poll for the 500?He went to the back for his Duel 150 race, that was his penalty for changing an engine.

The %26quot;One Engine%26quot; Rule does not apply to the Daytona 500 because of the unique qualifying procedures.

All teams are allowed one engine change after their Qualifying race. So there is no penalty for the 500How does Johnson keep the poll for the 500?Go 48 WOO HOOOHow does Johnson keep the poll for the 500?As the Daytona 500 qualifying is unique so are the rules.

Once Jimmie qualified 1st and won the Coors Light Pole Award, Sunday, thats his position nothing could change that (unless he changes engines between now %26amp; the 500, I'm not sure).

He necessarily didn't have to run the Gatorade Duels as he already had the best position possible. He would run because it would give him a chance to work on set up and see how his car handles in race configuration.

But the rules as far as Daytona 500 qualifying are different. NASCAR allows engine changes and since he did he only lost pole for his Duel race not the 500. My guess is because when they would normally just qualify then Happy Hour then race they this time would qualify then practice then Race the duels then the 500.How does Johnson keep the poll for the 500?The qualifying rules for Daytona is different from all the other tracks. Pole and 2nd starting position was locked in last Sunday. The Duels determine positions 3-39, the last four spots are by speed, unless a past champion needs the last 43 starting spot. Changing engines before the Duels, results in starting in the back of the field. After the Duels, EVERYONE IS ALLOWED TO CHANGE ENGINESHow does Johnson keep the poll for the 500?First off, this is a non issue and there is no conspiracy going on. It's the same way it's always been. As long as he didn't wreck his primary car in the duel he retains the pole for Sunday. That's why he pitted and went to the back towards the end of his race, he didn't want to cut a tire and wreck. If he had to go to a whole different backup car he would have been put to the back of the field for the 500. ALL the teams are allowed to change engines for the 500, his penalty for changing before the duel only affected his start in that race. Starting position in the 500 isn't any big deal anyway, it's a marathon. How does Johnson keep the poll for the 500?Because NASCAR is letting all the teams change engines for the 500. They said on Nascar Live that they can even use other engines to practice today, but need to have the 500 engine in for final practice and if they change engines during or after final practice then they will head to the back for the start of the 500.

Also the 150's are a separate race to get into the 500 and want the field to be on level playing field for the 500 start. How does Johnson keep the poll for the 500?He has already been Penalized in the Duel 150!!!!!!
