How frequently required to change engine oil?

HI,

I got one second Bajaj Boxer, and millage was good. Last time when i done servicing to bike. just 2 weeks back one mechanic said that the engine bore have to be done ???? i dont know what deos it mean.. but i felt may be my engine bore need to be replaced or! just need to service. And also your engine oil have to refilled frequently.

Ya i think.. after servicing my bike i just traveled 1000 Kms, i m not able to see engine oil in level? so what shall i do is it required to have engine oil filled in my self? or do i need to take it to any mechanic again?

And how frequently is it required for having service??

And more over my bike gives millage of 70 in city. but a very little bit of white smoke comes out.

and please suggest me.. ThanksHow frequently required to change engine oil?Your mechanic is suggesting you bore the cylinder, because you're puffing smoke out the exhaust. Your piston rings are bad, and causing it to burn oil, and smoke.

He's correct. You need a top end rebuild, new piston, rings, and to have the cylinder honed out, or bored if you go to a bigger piston. If you are burning that much oil, 621 miles (1000kms) thats a LOT of oil, and you should probably not ride it anymore, because the engine will be lacking lubrication, and eventually seize. Take it in to have the top end done before you damage the bike beyond repair.

You should be able to ride that bike for THOUSANDS of miles on one oil change, not 621 miles, and your oil should be changed about every 5000kms, or 3000 miles. How frequently required to change engine oil?check the clutch whether it slicks

check breaks if worn out.

if none

an oil top up will be fine for the next 1000 km.

usually a bike needs to serviced after 2000-2500km runHow frequently required to change engine oil?I am automobile engineer.

Dude u have mentioned very good information abut white smoke....

There is no oil in engine is bcoz the oil is burning with petrol and causing white smoke...

Have u changed piston? or replaced piston rings? after cylinder re-boring? ask mechanic......

It happens because of gap between cylinder wall and piston ring either u hav to replace piston or change piston rings i cant tell u exactly from here u hav to see a mechanic. How frequently required to change engine oil?Sorry i cant answer your question in kms, but you should change your oil every 2000 miles and change you oil filter every other oil change. And for the white smoke you might have water in your gas. This happens mostly from condensation in your gas tank (and could be bad gas). Use HEET to get rid it.
